I just finished updating my technology presentation that I usually give to customers and prospects, and my 200+ slide deck is now alittle over 50.

This afternoon, I got my first live look at PowerView, which is the new dashboarding tool that is available with MSSQL 2012. And I like it. Within a couple of minutes I was able to create some cool visualizations, and I am sure that soon I will be able to do so much more.

One feature of PowerView that I noticed yesterday was the ability to export the PowerView dashboards that I created into PowerPoint, and which allows the presenter to then drill into the dashboards directly from PowerPoint. This is the coolest thing ever.

I liked PowerView last week when I started tinkering with it. Now I really, really like it. I just worked through an example of extending out your dashboards to use custom images linked to the base report data, and it worked great. Now you can create dashboards where people can see the data rather then having to read the fields. This is too cool.

Today I created a worked example for a prospect of how you can easily make changes to Dynamics AX through the inbuilt development tools. Adding fields to the database and then to the forms in the application is one of the simplest customizations that you can make, but can address a lot of requests that come during implementation

Yesterday I was shown how to configure the TAPI interface with my demo version of Dynamics AX 2012. I must say that it is very cool. I wish that everyone had this integrated with their ERP's so that when I call up other customer service locations, I don't have to type in my account number all of the time.

I was asked to create a video on how easy it is to perform a lot trace and create lot recall reports from Dynamics AX 2012 using the Junction Solutions tracing workbench. Along the way I created a script and walkthrough.

A while back I was tipped off about a tool from Microsoft called LightSwitch, and it looks like it has come out of Beta and is now an official product. So I took a quick look at it and was able to use it to easily create some alternative screens for Dynamics AX without a single line of coding. This is too cool.

I found this article on TechNet last month on Creating Cubes in AX 2012 (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc622026.aspx) and was just able to take a look and work through the example. This is too cool - because you don't need to even touch MSSQL in order to create and deploy your very own reporting cubes. Within about half an hour I was able to create my very own cube and report off it.
